Some cool customs and a special message for mr. hickman

I found this production image of the Helder M. statue. Now you've all seen the statue before but I bet you never saw it quite like this. And by this I'm not talking about the pre-paint job version I'm talking about this angle it's shot from. It's about a foot tall but here it looks like it's more like 15 ft tall. It's got the creative wheels in my head turning I kind picture it as just one part of some bigger epic battle scene illustration. I'm not making any promises at this point folks I'm just sayin.

And now for some other Bill "Micronaut" Mantlo inspired coolness we have a new one from our resident custom figure guy Chris! Ya know I often compare Rom to Optimus Prime but really Rom and Acroyer have a lot in common as well. They both have that stoic noble warrior king mojo going on.

And just in case you happen to be one of the few people who didn't see this Cloak custom in Chris's gallery yet.

And just so you all know I did read that CBR article with jonathan hickman and his reasoning for destroying Galador. What a crock of shit! Oh what, am I supposed to get excited now because maybe three or four months from now when Infinity ends there's gonna be a panel of some refugees from Galador who swear they're gonna find a new home and re-establish the spaceknight order someday? Yeah let's have a Rom fanboy circle jerk over that epic moment, fuck you hickman you fucken suck! Ya couldn't have even thrown Ikon a bone before you killed her off she and Quasar never did get a chance to hook up.

As for why I'm posting this here, I just like it . . . a lot.

    1. good for you Joseph for not rewarding Marvel's bad behavior. chances are i'll still find that anticipated clip art online and feature it here. if nothing else it'll give us another excuse to go off on hickman and Marvel some so more.

  2. Man, I would sure love to have these custom figures mass produced. Even in limited quantities, I'd jump on a kickstarter for these in a heartbeat. They're gorgeous. Speaking of gorgeous...helloooooo, Velma!

    1. Thank you for the compliment Rick! I'm so glad that you enjoy the customs. I'm not overly business savvy but I am going to look into some kickstarter type fundraising for the customs. Who knows maybe we can get some cool figures out there for everybody. Thank you so much for your support Rick. It means a lot man.

    2. Hi, exhuman. Your customs are really really GOOD! The movement of the cloth is dynamic and I really love the way you showed his body. Now he looks like a man wearing a cloak, not just a ghost in a piece of cloth.

  3. Hey Shlomo!
Thanks for featuring my customs again man! I'm looking forward to the feedback! By the way I'm planning on another Micronauts custom but I don't want to say who it is,...and I've got a new Cloak in mind. You guys on this blog are so supportive and awesome, you all deserve my best work so please stay tuned! And to all the bro's Thank you again!

  4. You got a link to that CBR article you mentioned? I can't find it.

Thanks, and thanks for keeping the torch burning for ROM fans. ROM #21 was one of the very first superhero comics I ever bought for myself as a kid and that I desperately followed in the days of begging my mom for spare change, hoping the drugstore would stock the next issue and not having a comic shop close enough to regularly patronize.

    1. hi themiddlespaces welcome to the blog. Rom #22 was my first Rom issue ever and one of the earliest comics i ever had. paste this into your browser http://comics.cosmicbooknews.com/content/hickman-says-more-spaceknights-come-post-infinity

another lame thing i just discovered about this article is that on the homepage that features an index to all their current articles it has the tag line " Looks like ROM survived by the sound of it". what a bunch of dumbasses at cosmicbooknews.com!

  5. I'm starting to think they just enjoy dumping on ROM fans once every few years. Give us something to pick at in a cameo, get us excited, then blast us away.
Or maybe they were just tired of dumping on Spidey for a few weeks. Who knows.
I'm really not happy about it, I know that. I don't like destroying a civilization just for "epic shots" or "momentous occasions". Give me a reason in a plotline. Give me a damn good reason. Maybe I'll follow you. But don't tell me to hang on for three months. I've been told that too many times, Marvel. DC too. It doesn't wash anymore.
You can post pictures of that Cloak figure anytime you like, Shlomo. I never get tired of it. :) Tell me if a kickstarter pops up, or anything, and I'll be there. Count on it.

  6. Hickman comes in for a LOT and I mean a LOT of crititcism over on the Fantastic Four forum I co-host, primarily for his slow...slow...slow...s...l...o...w...storytelling, the high point for most of was the THREE-YEAR plotline that wrapped up only last year. I say last year...those of us with short attention spans gleaned thru many years of relentless plot twists still aernt entirely sure it still aint fucking going on!
He DOES love to tell his own stories in his own sweet time dosent he..pity he rarely takes the readers into consideration.

    1. excellent point Karl! the pacing of his stories are rather slow even when they are actually good like his work on the early FF (Future Foundations) issues.

just think, this bullshit with hickman in Infinity #1 comes from the same guy who gave us the Universal Inhumans which included the Dire Wraiths in 2010 (first appearance Fantastic Four #577) and later in 2011 gave us a cool ROM homage moment in which we see an alternate dimension Reed Richards blast some Dire Wraiths with a neutralizer replica like weapon in Future Foundations # 9. he really does deserve all this shit he's getting i hope the fall out gets bigger.

    2. Brian Michael Bendis, Jonathan Hickman, Rick Remender, Matt Fraction... HEY MARVEL- MAYBE LET SOMEONE ELSE WRITE ONE OF YOUR BOOKS ONCE AND AWHILE? I'm so fucking sick of these guys.
The latter two are... okay. But the first two suck ass!
(Dan Slott was not mentioned because I actually like his stuff a lot, still... my anger is valid- I'd like to pick up a top-tier book and have it NOT be written by one of those guys. I haven't got to enjoy Avengers or Fantastic Four in sooo many years...)

  10. Anytime Chris loved it I would buy your Acroyer in a Heartbeat!! The guys who own the rights to it didn't respect the character enough to do it that well!! And David Dude man I just read that Garbage from that Infinity comic and wow The Bull alarms where going off Big time and the it was just Over Are you Kidding me what the Hell!! They survive the Wraith and Galactus for these yahoos to just come in and Boom its Over! Wow and what's the time line on this seeing how Starshine is in her original form and not the warrior look I'm confused.
