Whe...As always...thanks for your thanks, everyone! When I got the idea to give ROM this deserved cover treatment, I wasn't sure that I would be able to do it; in fact I almost emailed Dave with just a description of it so he could use his fine skills to realize it. But then I 1) remembered I had picked up GIMP quite a long time ago for another project unrelated to comics, 2) became determined to do it myself & not let Dave have all the fun, and 3) found an evening to concentrate on the task. It took something like 6 hours because I had to figure out, for my first time, transparencies on layers and selecting around shapes to cut stuff out. And as the artist I of course see a few niggles that I could do better if I started over, but I'm tickled enough with the end result that it will remain as is. I think it's especially cool how ROM looks like he's crouching down to look out the "window" of the border, right at us the observers.Gary Martin, Jr.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11385338936431036524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178894507761299440.post-4509042069844768062012-08-15T16:41:14.115-07:002012-08-15T16:41:14.115-07:00I would love to get photoshop, but I have absolute...I would love to get photoshop, but I have absolutely no reason to get it, other than a wish to play around with it. And I already use up my excuses on other things. Like comics. And comic related items.
I'm very happy you have photoshop Dave, and therefore, the blog, because otherwise what would I read?
Randomnerdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11216600316804854172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178894507761299440.post-91944380134431223072012-08-15T16:24:19.178-07:002012-08-15T16:24:19.178-07:00i can draw and paint all this sci-fi comic book st...i can draw and paint all this sci-fi comic book stuff just fine. but with out the digital versatility with any graphics that photoshop gives i wouldn't be able to do half the stuff you guys see here. i would have to give up blogging altogether with out the use of photoshop no joke. The Corel suite is a LOT cheaper than anything Adobe and you get BOTH for around $4-500.00. Draw is a vector based desktop publishing type software while PhotoPaint is raster based. That is what I've used to manipulate scans of my artwork. I've done a couple of 'digital paintings' but don't really know enough to do them efficiently. I had Painter once and it looked like it would be phenomenal but I am just more comfortable with traditional techniques; pens and brushes and inks and paint. Of course the downside is you can't "Ctl+Z" those. The Graphics Wizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06372954868702603805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178894507761299440.post-27184109155228741122012-08-15T07:22:56.412-07:002012-08-15T07:22:56.412-07:00i've had a small Hotwheels size version this b...i've had a small Hotwheels size version this batmobile stuck to my car dashboard for the last couple of years now. the old Batman show was awful and this car never made any sense from a crime fighting stand point. i mean why would you drive around in a car that had an open canopy all the time? not much protection from bullets or even from the rain. but from a looks stand point it's one of the coolest looking cars ever designed and you can't beat those rims!Shlomo Ben Hungstienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07238927958290618109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178894507761299440.post-21684579321080690062012-08-15T05:04:32.490-07:002012-08-15T05:04:32.490-07:00I remember that border! For those of us who don't buy Photoshop. It's not as easy or complete as Photoshop, but again...free.
Dave, that was the best Predator costume I had ever seen. I wanted to walk over and grab tendrils, but honestly, I was a little scared of him. I really wish Cobra Commander had been walking around more and had wandered over by Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, because that would have been hysterical. Comicon was a total blast, though. Next year I hope I get there the full three days. Some of my drawings on my art page on deviant.com are from these covers I just left out those boarders!

See David you're a great influence! I actually got to see the Batmobile here is Fort Lauderdale! The guy that owns it lives nearby and brought it to a Superman convention I had gone to with a buddy!

Imagine my awe and horror being one of the few times I wear a Superman shirt and Here's "The Batmobile!!!"
