"Keyboard tough guy", that's the term I like to use for people who talk a big game on the internet but provide no follow through. But that has really nothing to do with these two tough guys other then that there's a keyboard in the back ground of this photo.
Lately I've been finding a lot of Rom related fan art out there. But most of it to be honest has been kinda mediocre or lacking in some way even if it had it's high lights. But for this one, it's all good as the saying goes. It is all around well done in both concept and technical execution. My guess is that these Dire Wraiths got blown out of there warship and Rom is banishing them all to Limbo before they die in the vacuum of space. With only about a day left this original art is going for just $40 on ebay.
And last up the King of Thessaly has a new video out of random happenstance in dirt mall questing. It appears as if he's for the most part sober but don't let that discourage you for watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QfRs56OJFo
Sober? How DARE you, Sir!!! You besmirch my good name! You some kinda keyboard tough-guy?
ReplyDelete...I was GETTING drunk. Thank you...
And if my new favorite Christian super-hero: The Illuminator taught me anything- it's that there is only ONE true way, and that's not through alcohol; it's through the teachings of our lord and savior Jebus Christ. I must be like unto a nuke from Heaven.
*cough*
"My guess is that these Dire Wraiths got blown out of their war-ship and Rom is banishing them all to Limbo before they die in the vacuum of space." ROM is such a fuckin' hero, man... That's bas-ass as fuck. In a world where Superman *spoilers* snaps necks now, and gives no fucks about innocent bystanders; we need more SpaceKnights!
It's almost 5AM- I gotta get some sleep...
FNM forever, yo!
hey man i neglected to mention it in my comment on your video but that was a good break down you did of that Christian superhero issue you picked up. all humor aside you pointed out some really good angles in terms of it's theme and social significance.
Delete...I did? Huh, news to me.
DeleteI love it when an artist uses up the whole paper well. This guy did that while letting you tell your own story of exactly how ROM got himself into the situation.
ReplyDeleteI loved the rant about board games, KoT. I usually pick mine up cheap, too, unless it's a brand new game I've been waiting for, or an expansion. Even then, most of those have come out of kickstarter lately, so it's kind of cheap anyway. The only games I can think of that I'd be willing to shell out actual money for would be a (complete) version of Dungeon! (because the one we played when we were kids has way too many pieces broken or missing now), or the original Stratego. Because the new version annoys me. Don't ask me why. It just does.
I have no idea if board games are hip or not. We've been playing them nonstop since we were kids. Also, me and my friends are not a great judge of hipster trends. They tend to pass us by before we noticed they were there.
Thanks... it has just been aggravating me. -I'm poor and I'm old and I don't understand inflation so I blame the kids today! Man, I haven't bought a brand new board-game in over a decade. I never even thought about looking on KickStarter for games, though... Probably some really cool/unique stuff on there.
DeleteI remember Dungeon! Yeah, I'd pay a lot for an original/complete Clue. Or an old-school Cootie. Same here, though- I've been playing boardgames since I was a kid. We were very late in getting video-games... we got an Atari about six months before the NES came out, and did not have a NES until a few years later. -But we always had a closet full of boardgames...
hey guys just wanted to give you all a heads up that for the next two days i'll be working literally from sun up to sun down. basically i'll only be going home to sleep and that's all. so if i don't seem too chatty for the moment that's why.
ReplyDeleteMan I'm lovin both the art and the action figures! it's too cool when you can put things together like that! And Dave I know the feeling of been running a bit raged with a few Zzzz's here and there! it's why I haven't been on much too brain damaged by lack of sleep! But after the heads up I had to check in and see the goods!
ReplyDeleteI bought that awesome artwork no one else bid. Out of recent ROM art I seen on Ebay this one called out to me.
ReplyDeleteCrap! I saw this and was hoping to chase it down on eBay. Crap! Crap! Crap!!
ReplyDeleteI like the hand in the stomach thing going on .many wraiths are in peices while others are on way to limbo. Getting it framed for my ten year old sons room. He loves ROM ! Even though many have forgotten the greatest of the Spaceknight.
ReplyDeleteKeyboard tough guys. Yeah the internet's practically infested with 'em, as I'm sure you well know dealing with FB and Blog Anti-Semitics.
ReplyDeleteThat custom ROM's easily the best custom job I've seen yet. Seriously, someone should put you ROM fans out of your misery and make a fully-posable ROM figure by now.
From your lips to the toy manufacturer's ears.
Deletehey everybody just checking in here with the free moment i have. looks like we got a little party going on here. Joseph, welcome to the Blog for ROM Fans Who Aren't Dicks. thanks for swinging by and letting us know who you are you got yourself a great deal. how big is that ROM original anyways?
ReplyDelete-Every day is a party, son. Looks like you are still alive... good on ya!
DeleteShit- that B&W ROM better be HUGE for 40-fuckin'-bones + S&H... I did not see the auction- but I'm guessing it's only 11x17 or smaller... DAMN- just looking around on eBay with a ROM search- people are INSANE with the amounts they are charging/trying to get for everything... single issues for $5... $400 to $600 for the complete run, $60 for a B&W sketch cover on an unrelated Avengers comic, $200-400 for the figure. -Yeah, I'll stick to The Dirt-Mall, thank you very much...
Yes 11x17 .For me this was worth the 40 bucks . I never bought orginal artwork before and some awesome ROM anit a bad bad way to start. My usual buying is vintage synthiszers on ebay. My ten year old boy has all my old issues of ROM. He loves them one of his favorite marvel heros. So I bought this as a kick ass susprise for him. most games i buy for him cost more and this is WAY better. Great blog gald i found it.
DeleteAnd sorry for the crappy cell phone typos
DeleteOh, and I'm not trying to give you shit for it or anything... so I hope you didn't think that. I'm just saying: Too damn rich for my blood.
DeleteBut, hey; spreading the awesomeness that is ROM to your kid- IS totally worth it!
No offense taken and i didnt take it that way.
DeleteThe artist is Dann Phillips . He has done other ROM art and more you check out here
ReplyDeletehttps://m.facebook.com/DannPhillipsArt?id=157004984364520&_rdr
i featured a Dann Phillips piece on a May 4th posting this year. hey man like i said in this just posting $40 for some nicely done original art was well worth it. after all it's one of a kind. some years ago a really nice acrylic painting of ROM was sold on ebay for only $50 http://lkseitz.blogspot.com/2012/04/another-robb-waters-piece.html
DeleteThat b/w art is pretty cool. It looks like a splash page from an unknown-but-masterly graphic novel.
