A Rom DC Comics cross over I'd like to see

For those of you who know Adam Strange also know how freaking awesome this team up could have been. Strange is to cosmic DC heroes what Batman is to street level heroes when it comes to DC although Batman has had his fair share of cosmic adventures but you get the idea. Plus, it wouldn't be the first time ROM has teamed up with a superhero by the name of Strange. Adam Strange art by Robert Atkins

  1. I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!!! ...or some spare Zeta-beams. Whichever. Plot?: Maybe Kanjar Ro and The Dire Wraiths form an unholy alliance after a small battalion accidentally comes to the DC Universe through a stray Zeta-beam (Right before Wraithworld was banished into Limbo) and decide a galaxy with no ROM will be far easier to dominate- starting with Rann. Strange then has to figure out how to recreate said extradimensional beam to go find help... Toaster-headed help. All before Kanjar Ro helps The Wraiths to turn Rann's sun black, and Rann itself into the new Wraithworld!

Oh, and here ya go- I came across some REAL ones for ya!:

  4. Loving this, for the mere fact it's Adam Strange! I got an action figure of him coming soon.

But yeah, this combo/team-up would've damn sure happened back in the day.

Sweet, sweet photo-job on that Adam Strange inclusion Shlomo! Love the way you smoothed out the flames on the jetpack.

  5. That would be a fun crossover :) Shlomo, can you put the word out that Randy Bowen (Bowen Designs) is asking if there is interest in a ROM statue? cast your vote if you are (I've seen fans start these polls but never a statue producer) http://www.statuemarvels.com/f87/rom-spaceknight-anyone-interested-24498.html

    1. just clarify for me, in the event there was enough demand would Randy Bowen designs actually produce something? or is this more of a hypothetical thing as far as this poll goes?

    2. I don't think that Randy would have posted a poll if he didn't have a way to make it happen... a fan maybe, but Randy uses polls to help him decide which characters & costume he plans on proposing to Marvel for the next wave of statues and busts. Personally I didn't think it was possible (you, Lee and Ptor know better than anyone about the Bing McCoy situation)... I'll ask and will post the response I get.

  6. I have no clue who Adan Strange is to put any input on a crossover.rad cover though but good ole jack would be irked.

When it comes to crossover team ups for ROM i always thought R.J. Macready from Dark Horse would be cool. Him and ROM vs The Thing from another world and the Wraiths. That would be bad ass as booth ROM and Mac have trouble getting people on board just how bad the invisible enemy is. Only team up i think that could end with ROM drinking some JB wiskey

Got check that statue link out

    1. John Carpenter's The Thing, how ironic i was just watching that a couple of days ago. one of the all time best sci-fi horror flicks of all time. and i gotta say the pre-quel ended up being pretty good too.

    3. yeah but you had to admit the whole thing with them trying to figure out who's human and who's not by checking for dental fillings was pretty clever. and speaking of all things cool, 80s and Rom also from today http://marvel1980s.blogspot.com/2013/08/1984-anatomy-of-cover-rom-55.html#comment-form

  7. I also ask, who is this "Adam Strange?" but I do like the outfit and what not. He seems like a cool character for a cross over.

  8. thanks for the comments folks. i like this team up concept. Adam Strange doesn't have ROM's raw power but he's one of the most brilliant tacticians in the DC Universe along with being an extremely skilled and resourceful fighter. like Batman he always finds a way to get out of impossible situations and take down super powered enemies despite not having any powers. Strange and ROM would make a great team that would be able to out think any opponent they couldn't manage to out fight. especially when you remember how Rom managed to trick Galactus into trying to eat Wraith World which damn near killed the Big G.
i was planning on making this my September 1st posting but i said fuck it because thanks to Gary Martin Jr. i've got something else you're all gonna enjoy. if you have a copy of ROM#1 you'll want to bust it out for my next posting and if you don't have a copy one will be "provided" for you. see you all soon it's back to the grind stone for me i've been busy as Hell and next week it's gonna be even more balls out.

  9. That's an awesome cover mate! I loved the new look Adam Strange Planet heist gave my favourite DC character and hated when they reverted to the old fuddy duddy one. Hopefully in his DC52 reappearance in Justice League Canada he won't be altered too much. Though if Lobo is anything to go by....

    1. right you are mate especially in regards to his updated space suite look it was a vast improvment! i have the Planet Heist TPB and the Rann -Thanagar War follow up mini-series. Great Stuff! that mini-series had plenty of Hawkman and Green Lantern action as well. in regards to the DC52 i would recommend you keep the bar low as far as your expectations go.

    1. I liked it! -Own it. Jim Starlin is awesome! If they're in fuckin' space- he can write them like no other! Tying into this post; his eight-issue mini Strange Adventures was great too! It even had The Weird in it!!! -Another great mini he did back in the day.

  11. the main theme about being a spaceknight was sacrificing your humanity for a noble cause. now you can slip in and out of that armor like Iron Man. and on top of that your "spaceknight" armor looks like something out of an anime movie as opposed to anything remotely like the classic spaceknights. that's a double fail right there.

    1. yeah...I can see that. It was weird how during Annhilators Brandy Clark wanted to put the Starshine armor on but couldn't due to the fact that she would lose her humanity. Not consistent.
