Avengers Infinity #17 and custom action figure video promo

Well Marvel does it again. How many ways do I hate Marvel? Let me count the ways, 17. As in Avengers Infinity 17 which doesn't have shit as far as Galador or the spaceknights. After that awesome teaser panel in issue 16 I had to wait 3 fucken weeks to find out that #17 didn't have shit (cmon Hickman really!?). Needless to say I did not buy it and I would recommend you don't either it's like rewarding Marvel for bad behavior.
If you absolutely have to know what's going on in the issue you can read some of the pages in online previews and I can guarantee in just a few days Youtube reviews on the issue will appear. So save your hard earned money, you have better things to do with it then blow $4 bucks on something you'll burn through in 15 minutes or less.

Alas, all I have to offer this week is this custom figure video for your spaceknight fix.

If you're wondering why you didn't see this yesterday it's because I just found it last night and even though it appears that ROM's neutralizer has an ammo clip I still thought this was kinda cool. But because I was feeling like such a "Grumpy Cat" about Marvel and considering the idealistic theme of this art work I wasn't planning on posting it here. But then I saw a comment left here later last night by a certain Rick Hansen and it made me feel better, thanks Rick I needed that.

One last thing folks, I just came across what has got to be the worst Rom tribute video of all time. It doesn't take long to figure out in this 20 +  minutes long video what makes it so painful to listen too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m8VpGp6RBU

    1. Hey zhaanman! Thanks for the support brother!
I was shocked that Dave was so close too! I don't know if you've ever met him but, an awesome, awesome guy. He even brought me two prints of his original ROM artwork! A very respectful, down to earth, don't crap in my cereal and I won't destroy what you love kinda guy. I was very impressed with his level of professionalism as well. When he came by we exchanged Galadorian greetings but when it was time to get to work he was all business. I respect that! Thats how stuff gets done. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support man, and who knows, maybe we'll meet up somewhere too!

  2. Whoa, okay, so looking at his deviantart page, the guys at MacFarlane, Inc. really should have hired this dude. That Brainiac and Bizarro are amazing.
Cute intro. ;) Space odyssey indeed.

    1. Hello Randomnerd! Dude, thank you for the awesome compliment! I WISH the guys at MacFarlane would have hired me! That would've solved a great many problems! Seriously though man, thanks for checking out the customs. I'm so glad you like them! I've got some more weirdness on the way and a familiar face as well,...David knows who I'm talking about,..stay tuned!

  4. Love your video diary's dude - easily one of my favourite parts about your blog. The intro was awesome and the Annual cover was reveal was the perfect image for those closing notes. If only all characters had a fan who cared about them as much as you do bro.

I second Random's thoughts on his gallery too. I mean that Cloak is just wow - all the different movements of his cape make him look like a really formidable dude, and not just a sheet with a head as he usually is made to seem. That Brainiac and Cobra Commander are stunners as well. Aided by a good eye for pose and camera angle too.

    1. Hello Dan W. Thank you for checking out the gallery! I'm glad you found some stuff to dig on! After the reaction that Cloak figure has gotten both here and in the past as well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to make another relatively soon. I just need a few parts,... Thank you again for compliments dude! Please visit the gallery again!

  5. Hate to tell ya- but I figured as much... that's what you get for putting ANY faith in The Big Two in 2013: "You're Bound For Disappointment!" TM
Everyone loves to give DC shit for the abysmal re-boot but Marvel has not been good in years either.

    1. Hahaha- I got NINE comics today at The Dirt Mall for what you paid for that one- and I bet all nine of mine are waaayyy better!

    2. i have no doubt you came away from the The Dirt Mall with another great comics haul on the cheap. however let me remind you my friend i did not buy this issue. i just looked at it for about a minute and saw no indications of spaceknights for which i just turned around and marched out the door cursing Marvel under my breath. let me know when you've got your next video up. by the way for anyone who has followed my Suicide Squad blog they know i also hate DC.

    3. Ohhh, okay then- well; good. You didn't actually buy it. I was worried / very sad for you...
I wish no one would buy it. I'm sick of Marvel and DC doing this half-ass pandering to their older readers. It's a slap-in-the-face marketing ploy that preys on your nostalgia and it works far too often! ENOUGH already. You know?

      Delete
  6. Also- "DO NOT BUY THIS!" HA! Fuckin' hilarious!

  7. That's all you got Shlomo??? Honestly, the video is incredibly creative; Dan already said most of what I was gonna, and I need to add that the story of your getting together with Chris is Infinitely more fulfilling & hopeful than anything I could've read in an issue of Avengers today. But then I have delusions of ROM Con 2013. ;-)

So comics' Spaceknights are put off at least one more week. Infinity #1 comes out next Wednesday, who knows what "excitement" it'll be packed with. I know there are multi-issue crossover storylines appearing across many other titles...does anyone know if Avengers might continue the Galador "subplot"? {kinda sucks I have to use so many ironic quotation marks when talking about "Marvel NOW" huh. Ah well we'll always have the '80s.} My fears: the new Spaceknights action will happen behind-the-scenes and/or their planet gets wiped out (I dread a single panel of Captain Universe teleporting back to Earth saying too-matter-of-factly "Galador is no more").

Dave, also thanks for the new 'ROM Reaction' image, it's as good as the old punching one, even better if it saved someone from spending money on #17. I had an online order ready to place (no local shop or dirtmall near me) but can now wait. Still in rehab for probably the rest of this month, anyway... Peace All.

    2. . . . Marvel might have some more stuff in store with Galador and the spaceknights in future Avengers story lines but i don't even want to try and speculate on any of that right now otherwise i'll get even more irritated then i already am. glad i was able to save you some money just think of this posting as public service announcement.

  10. Verrrry cool figures. The hardest part is deciding which one is my favorite. I have to go with Starshine, but the one with the bell bottoms comes in a close second. ;)
Your explanation makes the process of making a custom figure very down to earth, maybe something many of us can try out ourselves. Nice job!
Also, yeah, the blog name is too shocking. Gotta change it, man. I'm SO not over it.
Lastly, I saw a preview copy of Infinity #1 tonight at my LCS and it's got Firefall, Starshine, Ikon, Terminator and one other spaceknight inside! So cool!

    1. Hello Rick Hansen! I wanted to thank you for your kind words about the figures! I'm really glad you like them man! The next batch of Spaceknights I make will ALL be super articulated, like Starshime there. The ones featured in the video are just my first attempts, but I'm glad folks seem to dig 'em!
      Thank you again Rick!

    3. I prefer to think that it stands for 'Lesbian Commune Super-stop' because they REALLY know how to preview a comic there.

  11. The galley was nice man. I really like the Scorpion guy and Cloak was awesome. The cape gave Cloak another dimension that he doesn't have in the comic (damn good job).

I hate Infinity didn't do you right Shlomo. I would say "join the club" but you know the club house is full. No one has been getting the right thing from the big two. Maybe it'll get better.

    2. Tiger! Dude! Thanks for visiting the gallery man! I'm psyched that you liked the golden scorpion! That was one of my originals! Ah Cloak,..Here's what I'm gonna do,..I'm definitely going to make a few more versions of that Cloak figure. The one you see there in the gallery was sold for grocery money. I'll post the new ones ASAP, and please visit the gallery again!

  12. Wow very impressive gallery chris and that vid makes these custom figures look way better then the photos .I was especially awed by how good Starshine REALLY looks.Great promo vid 2001a Spaceknight odyessy was perfect for all of these really great custom figures. Nice touch with issue 3 and annual 2 too.Well done to you both for giving these custom guys a chance to be seen as they should be. the photos while good did not reflect just how awesome all these guys and gals really are.

  13. Hello Joseph,
I'm really glad you like how the figs look on video. When I take the gallery pics I usually do it pretty fast, that is to say I'm no photographer. I would love to be able to take quality photos but I'm limited by the tech I have available. I am looking into some new techniques though so I hope the next batch of photos will be more fulfilling.
Thank you so much for your honest feedback and for checking out the gallery! I appreciate it man!

  14. Ohhh- FUCK YOU for showing me that video...
    Shit.
-Man... you... grrr... I'm only two minutes in and he's talking about "Bill Mantel-LO and Sal BOOSK-ama." Are these deleted characters from Episode I or and I having a He-Man flashback???
Speaking of flashbacks... is he actually ON edibles? Or is he just trying to be funny and keep saying how he's so 'high on chocolate'?
Because if he is actually high- I'd give him a bit more of a pass (even though I'm often high AND drunk in my videos- and I'll STILL look up how to pronounce a name if I don't know it... well, sometimes...) But if he's just literally eating Hershey-bars then seriously fuck this video.
Fuck- next time I make a video- I'ma just read the Wikipedia page too!!!
Uggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh- I made it to 5:18... I'm DONE.
Please, Shlomo- PLEASE tell me if I'm ever THAT boring and uninformed ever!
I'm gonna go contemplate suicide now.

THANKS AGAIN FOR TUNING ME ONTO THAT SWEET VIDEO!

  15. no worries K.o.T your videos nothing like that rubbish. yeah i probably shouldn't have but i left a comment under that guy's video i wonder if he'll reply to it. aside from the misinformation, the way he butchered all those names and terms that video was a good example of why i started this blog. that video was just uploaded a few days ago but it's got nothing new. no new art work, no new information it has absolutely nothing for any ROM fans out there they don't already know or have seen already a million times and the video is so badly narrated that it's hardly likely to inspired interest in ROM among others.

FYI folks, apparently The Avengers Infinity series is just one title in a series of Marvel titles that have converging story lines for the Infinity mini-series where i guess it all comes to a head. that's the preview Rick was taking about that some guy at his local comic shop showed him even though Infinity#1 doesn't come out till next week i believe. so with any luck not only will that series have some decent spaceknight/Galador representation but also be the next big cosmic story line that it's being pitched as.

    2. I'm way out of the LCS loop to really know, but I'm pretty sure comic shops sometimes get early preview copies of issues the publisher deems important, and what Rick has seen is the real Infinity #1 story that releases for sale next Wednesday. (It seemed like you weren't sure if the preview was the actual Infinity book...forgive me if I read ya wrong.) I wonder if the preview copy was the entire story, in color or black & white, etc., but didn't ask because just based on what he did confirm, Marvel will get my money for at least the first issue. Thanks, Rick, you really did us a solid with the heads-up, a few less pins & needles for a week.

      Delete
    3. To be clear, this was the whole entire issue. It was in full color and shows the Spaceknights as primary characters in this story. I was unable to get a good look at the pages due to time restraints, but the shop owner showed me the credits page which featured the cast of characters, particularly the Spaceknights Starshine, Terminator, Ikon and two others. I'd like to go back and get another look, but my schedule is kinda wonky.
