Hollywood heavy hitter talks ROM

James Gunn
Ok so last night after I dragged my ass home from work I jumped on my computer which was just supposed to be a quick night cap sorta thing before I hit the sack. Well that plan pretty much went to Hell thanks to the emails waiting for me by Gary Martin Jr. and johnmiic. It appears that James Gunn, the director of the highly successful Guardians of the Galaxy movie is something of a ROM fan he was recently quoted with the following
"Listen, I really love Rom: Spaceknights, as everyone at Marvel knows because they've me Rom stuff . . . but we don't own Rom. I would love for Rom: Spackenight to show up because I love his story, I love the way he looks, I love everything about him . . ."
Gunn went on to express in hypothetical terms a strong interest in the use of ROM for the big screen. Now, one might think that a heavy hitter like Gunn giving some serious props to the big silver guy might get the attention of the morons at hasbro right? mmmm . . . yeah . . well I guess hasbro has bigger plans for ROM I heard they'll be unveiling they're highly awaited ROM bobblehead at the 2015 Comic-Con in San Diego. Anyways, as far as Gunn and ROM go you can read the full article here  . . .

    1. yeah it's refreshing to see something like this but it makes you wonder even more what is the hold up when it comes to marvel and hasbro at least getting ROM back into print.

  2. Yeah- THAT's what we need... A fuckin' ROM bobblehead. I'll put it right next to my ROM Mighty Muggs figure on the compost heap in my backyard.
You know what would be sweet? -How about a reissue of the original figure? -Or maybe a ROM/Wraith 6-inch figure two-pack?
I mean, what's next? -A piece-of-shit ROM Munny? Some ROM Minimates? Ugh!!!
How about we get The Four Horsemen on this project?

    1. i'll pass on a reissue of the original but it's interesting that you mentioned The Four Horsemen. just late last week i was looking at a Four Horsemen video on youtube on some updated figures for the . . ahem . . Power Lords. i believe you're somewhat familiar with them? so you didn't like Batman: Year One huh? but you did like Assault on Arkham so you might like what i did just this past weekend

    2. Really? See- I'd love to own the original! But it's hard to find complete, and even harder to find complete AND cheap! I'd love a twenty to thirty dollar reissue!!!

Yes, I saw the new Power Lords they did! Nice- but I miss the old double-sidedness of Adam... The two separate figures thing kind of bummed me out. Still- they always do such good work; I loved their MoTU designs...

Nice art, dude. Nawww- Year One is boring to me... Any "Year One" comic is...

  3. Back to nose pinching then? Okay Hasbro, we get it. You're feeling up the cutesy market. Now, along with possible child predator repercussions, you're risking trashing the entire nostalgia ROM market before it's had a chance to ARRIVE. I don't think they've ever heard of the phrase striking while the iron is hot. Marvel is hot right now. Hasbro should be jumping on her like she's the hottest girl at the prom with low self esteem.

    3. Yup- the "cutesy", "collectors" market- that's exactly what they're doing and it's disgusting... Why do people buy this crap? I mean- I'm an anime fan- I understand the whole super-deformed thing can have it's charm... but ROM? SpaceKnight? No.

    4. Exactly. It has its place. Anime is fine. I myself have been known to squeal over Hello Kitty versions of my favorite costumed heroes. But as the sole marketing trend for a gallant Space Knight? Really? They can, and should, do better.
