Can't believe no one else has ever noticed this 1983 easter egg yet

This past weekend I went to a toy and comics collectibles show in San Jose where I grabbed a certain back issue from a $1 box. Not that it's all that hard to figure out what comic it was but for now I'll just not disclose that information. This is the first of a two page spread I was browsing through in which I was hoping to find Bill Mantlo or Sal Buscema in it. No luck there but on page one I did happen to catch something equally as blog worthy. I dunno if I'm the first ROM fan to ever catch this or if other fans out there never happened to mention it but there it is. Hopefully you've got a nice big monitor to look at this with.

  1. It's interesting that Rom and his roommates are... wind-up toys. Huh. ;-) It's certainly a completely oddball group in that room, as well. THAT would have been a Marvel Team-Up to remember.

    1. especially if it was handled by the right writer. and by the right artist to which would be just anybody other then steve ditko. but i think that the dream team that most ROM fans would have probably wanted was with The Silver Surfer.

    2. Yes it would!! I've searched every issue of Crazy Magazine but didn't find anything ROM. Somebody else needs to do Mad & Cracked, I don't have any anymore.

The artist of the Bullpen map above, Bob Camp, did exactly that kind of parody art you'd find in Mad, but, speak of the devils, it was in Marvel's Crazy...

& here's a pretty interesting follow-up to go with the Bullpen map...
