Rom, Silver Surfer, Nova and Quasar together for the first time

All this fan art I've been getting in recent weeks along with the Sal Buscema bonus pin-up page recently has gotten me all jazzed to do something myself. Here's a little something that's been in the back of my mind for a while now but until recently I hadn't been motivated to just sit down and do it.

  1. I'm sure I had a dream about this once, Ben.

  2. Your Surfer looks very Kirby-esque. Excellent work, my friend.

    1. i was thinking of him actually because who doesn't love Captain Marvel right? but i kinda lost track of the character since his death and i was feeling more motivated to have the characters who i've read about in recent years. it started with me wanting to do something with just Rom and the Silver Surfer. then i figure why not throw in Nova too. Quasar was something of an after thought but i like the character a lot too and he's been in some great Marvel cosmic story lines. one of those great cosmic story lines was Operation Galactic Storm which is when i basically really discovered the character.

    2. What's not to love about Mar-Vell and Warlock? Actually, the good Captain has managed to keep being dead so far. I guess his finale was just too awesome.

  5. NICE! Is that watercolour? Watercolor-pencil??? Gods, I need to draw/paint more... I have no motivation. And wrist-cramps... I wanted to do a big Adam Warlock/Magus gay poses in space watercolour for my living-room but I think I may end up getting it commissioned.
So, you have that foursome done- now do the companion piece with Mar-Vell, Captain Universe, Warlock, and Jack of Hearts. Hahaha!
Nova is well awesome- looking forward to the new/reboot series they're doing... Remember the Erik Larson Nova series? -PIMP.

    1. hey what's up brother so good to see you over here these days! actually i have the first two issues of the Erick Larson series that was some good writing. the 2nd issue even had a reference and footnote to the now classic Rom#24. and yeah that's mostly water colors, with some graphic pen and colored markers too. oh cripes i just figured out K.O.T. stand for King of Thessaly. i must be smoking too much Crystar :)

just a heads up i've got some great found fan art coming up later this week and it again features Rom, Nova, Silver Surfer along with some other Marvel greats.

  6. No doubt!
I don't care what the haters say: Erik Larson is a genius. His Defenders? -BEST HULK, AND NAMOR, EVER. The silent issue? CLASSIC. His Spider-Mans after McFarlane: Superior. (Dave Sim is awesome, too- while I'm on the subject of unreasonably/unfairly hated writers in the business) AND- speaking of The Silver Surfer- no one draws him better than Ron Lim, in my opinion...
Smoking too much Crystar- HA! "If this guy was their greatest hero- I would love to meet their greatest HEROIN!"
I should get off my ass and submit some ROM fan-art...

    1. that serenity you see is just the calm before the storm as the saying goes. a big ass cosmic throw down is coming and these four heroes are getting ready for it.

  8. That is awesome! It reminds me of the Infinity Gauntlet days! I love how you draw Nova too, allot of folk draw the part where his body turns into speed a little crazy, but you've made it look great there!

Now I'm just imagining what a threat these four would face...

Double for Erik Larsen too. His Spider-Man post McFarlane was genius! The covers alone are worth the price of each issue.
