Wraith War tribute fan art with some "Vision"

What a difference a nice chill weekend makes when it comes to bringing out the best in you artistically. The 3 or 4 of you who took the time to read my last posting have some idea what inspired this piece. But aside from the Wraith War events and references in the pages of Avengers 243, 244, 245 and 251 we also see The Vision and other members of The Avengers among the large collection of Marvel Superheroes appearing in the final show down in ROM#65 and 66. If your memory on that is a bit hazy here's a splash page to clear things up even though it was unfortunately rendered by steve ditko who's work at the time was absolutely horrible http://www.itsadansworld.net/2010/03/moments-in-cool-cap-leads-heroes-of.html

June 24 Update: Just a little something I did as a thank you gift for someone who's also a big Transformers fan. I think that's gonna do it for June, nothing as of yet for July postings but let's see if anything turns up in the coming weeks.

4th of July Update: Well folks get ready for the next disastrous attempt by marvel comics to publish more ROM related continuity. Apparently there's another "ROMless" spaceknight series over the horizon. But now that marvel has also destroyed Galador (Infinity #1 2013) one wonders what kind of crap their gonna come up with this time to further sully ROM's legacy. . .  http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/06/29/marvel-to-publish-a-rom-less-space-knights-series/

  1. Nice work mate - I really like how you've got you're own way with shading aye, I don't think anyone has developed a similar style there like you have.

That looming Wraith is really imposing - it's like the beginning of a great cover or movie poster - (you know, minus logo and legal guff) - nice job!

  2. Love that avengers issue and the one after it. Its extra nasty what the females do to the males . Nice art love ROM and though I never really liked Vision your rendition is quite good of him. I hated what they did to his origin in the avengers sequel. Funny that got me pissed off about a character I didn't really like then. Maybe subconsciously I must appreciate him more to get ticked off over that.

    1. yeah somebody over on deviant art mentioned that to me about Vision's origins but i'm pretty much out of the loop on what was going on in the marvel universe during the late 90s. if i recall properly you don't much care for Nova also? which raises the question Joseph aside from ROM what other characters in the marvel universe do you like i'm just curious?

all that aside i like the kind of feed back you and Dan gave me here i hope others viewers offer up something this week.

    2. Your memory is correct about Nova. I like so many characters vs the ones I dont impossible to list them all. Ill give you a few favorites in no order. Magneato, Subby,Spiderman , Xmen and most their villians, Manthing, Doctor Doom,Galactus, Thor, Silver Surfer,Eternity,Thanos, Adam Warlock, Hulk, FF4, Mephisto,High Evolutionary and so on and so on.... Its easier to list guys I dont like vs do like Vision,Nova, Puck, Wonderman, and a few others that never really caught my interest including the beloved rick jones especially as A bomb.

    3. As far a Vision orgins ...he goes back to the late 60s and remained around for a long time. I didnt care for alot of the plot lines with him the Scarlett Witch (who he married and had kids with) , Wonderman and Dr. Pym. Loved ultron but hatted when he was caught up in that never ending 5 character arc.

    6. ya know a while back I tried to get your boy Dann Phillips to include Sabra in one of his pieces which often feature multiple marvel characters but I guess he either forgot about my request or didn't want to be bothered.

  4. Nice work!

Marvel has, again, a perfect opportunity to reintroduce a re-tooled ROM with the new Secret Wars... but they won't pull the trigger...
Maybe one day! *holds out hope*

It's still a way awesome series- and the build up to it was epic as fuck! ...for the past three years! Jonathan Hickman is THE MAN!

  6. There was an announcement earlier this week from Marvel re: a new Spaceknight series coming this fall.

The next detail was it wasn't going to be ROM.

Then the "star" of the series was announced.

Check out this link. Remember, don't kill the messenger. ;)

    1. don't worry Dana no one is going to kill you. banishment to Limbo perhaps, but not execution. on a some what more serious note there's nothing to get excited about with this "Venom spaceknight" nonsense. even if it was ROM related it would be screwed up like everything else ROM related marvel has written in the past few years.

  7. So I'm not the only one with a Pavlovian urge to see ROM punch some logos, then. Venom SpaceNOT.

  8. Gorgeous artwork as always, Shlomo, but then, that's what first drew me to this blog. I think it was an Optimus Prime you did way back then too.

You only get better with age.
