Gods of Galador my ROM t-shirt arrived today!

Just got this baby in the mail a couple of hours ago! This is actually the first time I've ever bought any clothing online I've always had this standing rule about never buying anything I can try on first I'm a bit fussy when it comes to how stuff fits on me. But I had no choice Redbubble doesn't have any retail services from their San Francisco office. I don't know how they can get away with selling t-shirts of licensed characters with everything from Thundarr The Barbarian to The Shogun Warriors and even to The Micronauts but I gotta go back to S.F. early next week and now that I have my brand spanking new ROM t-shirt from these guys maybe I'll try to pay them another visit.

This custom Torpedo figure has been around for a while but I felt like featuring it here basically because I really like it. The artist did a good job on making the Torpedo armor look very accurate to how it was drawn not to mention the transparent visor. I'm also a big fan of figures that have good points of articulation. Even when a figure has a good sculpt but is about as articulate as the original Star Wars action figure line well then it might as well just be a statue figurine which kinda defeats the whole point of producing an "action figure". Now here's an example of a custom Torpedo I'm not too crazy about for the before mentioned reasons . . .

  1. Congrats man, that´s one nifty fresh looking bright T-shirt :) Even those who don´t know Rom yet will surely know them after this BIG advertising :) with that battle pose, i´m sure he would be friends with comic book Marvel era Optimus Prime :)

the Torpedo custom is also great looking. I remember him from the comics as well. He sort of remind me of Booster Gold, a human hero striving to be more than he actually is.

Me, my recent shopping is limited to the "The Classic Marvel Figurine Collection", with the small lead statues, which are really good looking, and office-friendly. My latest one is Dr.Strange. Oh yes, i´m also buying the DC little statues. hard to believe these found their way down here to Brazil :)

    1. hey Hugo i like your Torpedo / Booster Gold comparison. by the way i know what figurines you're talking about those are really nice i so wish hasbro had done something like one of those for Rom instead of that mighty mugg.

    2. Hey Victor, if you find any mentions of ROM or Dire Wraiths in the text or pictures inside the magazines that come with "The Classic Marvel Figurine Collection" (do you get them too, or only the figurine?)...please let us know! You mentioned you have Dr. Strange; he met ROM on more than one occasion, but the good Dr.'s history is so vast that I doubt it would merit a mention in his magazine. The "Figurine" magazines I have been wondering about, listed in order from most likely to least likely to mention ROM/Wraiths, are: Ant-Man (#129), Nick Fury (#51), X-Man (#128), Pyro (#141), Avalanche (#173), Blob (Mega Special #5), Mystique (#39), Destiny (#152), Shang Chi (#111), Mephisto (#24), Mole Man (#81), Beta Ray Bill (#140), Quasar (#146), Captain Britain (#21), Gladiator (#98), Magik (#166), Namor (#36), Captain Marvel (#46), Black Knight (#112), Photon (#165), Snowbird (#136), Shaman (#187), and Kitty Pryde (#45).

  2. Man I'm Diggin the T-shirt great color choice nice and crisp! I understand how you feel to when it comes to buying clothing on line. T-shirts are fine but paints or jackets and even shoes can be a bother!

    1. thanks, in terms of the color choice i think i may have been influenced by the dude i ran into a month ago who had that cool Nova t-shirt.

  3. Sweet swag, son! Pretty sure we chose the same shirt color, but mine has the flying forward logo that's at the very bottom of your blog. ;-) All the other designs that have popped up lately on Redbubble & the like haven't compelled me to get another one, but probably someday.

    1. ah ya know what Gary it was a toss up between the one you have and this one but i think i went with this shirt because it was newer. by the way Gary unless i missed something i don't think you have those Torpedo customs in your statue and figures folder in your dropbox.

  4. That t-shirt is amazing! I'm so jealous. Going to have to put that one on my Christmas list. Normally when I'm buying online I just go for the biggest size possible, then if it's huge and baggy I've got a brand new sleep shirt.
Red bubble is one of those sites that I spend hours surfing, but always exercise self control in the realm of buying. Like Thinkgeek. So many nerderific things, so little money.

    1. yeah that was an odd choice for a background I get the feeling who ever staged that custom didn't have anything else to use and figured it was better then nothing.

  11. That shirt is really really cool. I might buy one in the next couple of days now. And of course that Torpedo figure is way too cool. It really is a shame that we will never get figures of these guys that might not be as popular but are just as great and deserving.

    3. speaking of Nova just this afternoon I got done doing a sketch of Nova vs the dire wraiths. I just need to color it which I think i'll mostly get done tonight. the art work pertains to a story line this Nova fan from the U.K. was sharing with me and wanted some input on. for right now I want to touch base with that guy first before I reveal too much.
