Some new kick ass eye candy fan art!

Left click to enlarge
I actually wanted to make this latest digital art piece as the header art work on the blog but blogger keeps giving me shit about having to add a title to it which I'm not interested in doing I just want to drop the art work up there. Whatever fuck em! I love the original art work that I used to have up there  http://www.deviantart.com/art/Rom-mueller-pin-up01-filtros-372866616 but I've been wanting to have something more colorful for a little while now but it looks like I'm just going to have to go with out anything there for the time being.

As you can see some other blog worthy fan art turned up this week. This one is by Greek artist nikoskap. I really like the "gothic"modern art style that the male Dire Wraith, Deathwings and Hell Hounds are done in and that back ground strikes just the right tone for the scene.

The fan art that could have been a variant cover

I believe that the artist of this piece is a fellow by the name of John McCrea. I don't think that when I first saw it on twitter I gave it it's due credit but after a second look I started to like it more. I dunno what can I say that sort of thing happens sometimes with the fan art I find. It also reminds me of the cover art of issue 36 where you have Rom pissed off as Hell going all Terminator on the Dire Wraiths.

Rom, Captain Marvel America, Iron Man & Sabra team up fan art

About a half dozen new pieces of Rom related fan art have appeared in the past couple of weeks or so. But with the exception of the Sal Buscema commission art I posted last week it's all been pretty mediocre. So, I just did something my self. As far as I know Sabra and Captain America never appeared together in any sort of team up situation.

That's a shame seeing that both characters are iconic symbols of patriotism from their respective countries which happen to be closely allied. Now as you can see here they could be springing into action against most any enemy. First thought would be the Dire Wraiths of course but what about HYDRA? I totally dig the idea of Rom teaming up with Captain America and Sabra to fight a bunch of fucken nazis. Speaking of Hydra and Cap. any of you notice how last week's episode of Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D totally corresponded with the events of Winter Soldier with direct references and all?

Chris, good job on your latest spaceknight customs.

HYBRID! plus, new Sal Buscema commission art

Finally I have some good fan art to share but this actually is from way back in 2007 and it's by a fellow by the name Guillaume Prevost. I came across this art work on comicartfans.com a while back but I dunno why I didn't pick it up at the time. As you can see this is pretty good Prevost definitely captures the whole "mucusy " menacing creepiness that is Hybrid.
Also, check this out you'll get a kick out of this blog posting from last year it's got something for you to laugh at for Rom fans and fans of Marvel 80s in general
http://gone-and-forgotten.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-only-avengers-left.html  And now here's something much more recent from our pal Sal this is just all sorts of awesome . . .

A couple more things before I go. That ebay Rom custom auction will be finished sometime this afternoon so you might want to be sure to check it out and see how it ended. Also, I'll be going to see Captain America (ironic that Sal has Rom and Cap. standing next to each other) tomorrow so I'll probably update this posting with some spoiler free feed back on what I thought.

Winter Soldier: Just got back from seeing this today (Sat.) and I thought it was pretty good. It had a lot going on so I'm still digesting it so to speak my only criticism off hand is that I wish they had given the Maria Hill character more to do. I'm sure I'll have more to say about it in the next few days.

Cool custom figure and hot cosplay video

Just wanted to thank the anonymous commentator in the last posting for bringing this to my attention. I'm pretty sure I've seen this custom before but this version has a shinier coat of paint and that cool rocket pod effect. But the real reasons I posted this here, one is that there's only a couple days left on the ebay sale for any one who's interested in it and two the seller really went balls out on the display photos (good marketing!). A couple of the photos feature a Terrax figure along side the Rom custom and I love the font that "spaceknight" is written in.

Sorry folks no new fan art worth displaying has turned up in recent days but here's another sort of eye candy worth sharing and this video also has some good laughs.

Of Spartans & Spaceknights

Although it's cropped, I'm still glad I happened to find this larger format version of this illustration from Strange magazine (from France, the last country in Europe I would ever care to visit) which back in the day (the 80s of course) reprinted a number of stories from the Rom series among other Marvel titles. For years now I've only come across this art on the internet as something not much bigger then a thumbnail preview http://romspaceknightart.blogspot.com/2013/11/a-package-full-of-fan-art-for-bill.html

If you didn't see this earlier it's cause I'm adding a quick update for this posting with this original cover art from some publisher in Spain that reprinted some Rom issues too.

From something about the last country in Europe I would ever want to visit to something about the one country in Europe I wouldn't mind visiting someday. On it's own merits 300: Rise of An Empire is pretty good but as a sequel to the epic 300 it is quite excellent. That was the most recent nerd genre type movie I saw and now I'm looking forward to Captain America: Winter Soldier this weekend I sure hope it doesn't suck.
