Ant-Man fixes his daughter's ROM doll

I just stumbled across this two panel image of something I had never seen before. What we seem to have here is ROM appearing in the Marvel Universe as the Parker Bros. doll instead of as a interactive character. As we all know Ant-Man and ROM have appeared together before but not quite like this. At least now for all of you collectors out there who still have the doll now know who to go to if it gets busted. But were not talking about Henry Pym here. Apparently this was an ex-con named Scott Lang who had a daughter and was Ant-Man for a while. I think it would have been an extra added nice touch to make the anatomy of the figure in the drawing look like the Parker Bros. one for authenticities sake.

  2. Yeah i thought that was funny too. it was some clip art under google images after typing in ROM doll as the subject. it appears to be from MARVEL Team Up #103. See if you can direct other ROM fans to this blog posting i would love to see how many other people have seen this out there or what they think of it. maybe i just need more of a life or something but i really get a kick out of finding stuff like this and sharing it with people. by the way that was so cool about ROM & Brandy as guests at Rick Jone's wedding, thanks.

  3. This is great stuff. I really hope we can get Rom returned to the Modern Marvel Universe soon.

  4. There's one other appearance of Rom as an action figure in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #72 (Nov 1982, page 15, panel 1). Interesting that anyone would make an action figure out of what was considered by the Marvel public to be a robot serial killer. There's also the Rom, Spaceduck action figure from Howard the Duck magazine #6 (July 1980), which was written by Bill Mantlo. You can find them all at my Rom checklist (http://home.hiwaay.net/~lkseitz/comics/Rom/comic/checklist.shtml). Hope I'm not the Rom fan who was a dick.

  5. No way Lee, your not a dick. I'm really impressed with how you manage to dig up some of the most obscure and nuanced ROM stuff that's out there. I also noticed the Micronauts in that Howard the Duck panel. It's not the first time I've seen this ROM/Micronaut connection in my adventures of the cyberspace ROM cult. Maybe my next blog posting will be about that. anyways, thanks for your comment Lee and for not being a ROM fan who is a dick.
