Damn, What a difference some color makes for this ROM & Starshine fan art!

Pencil and inks by Jeff Slemons & colors by  Ian Sokoliswki
The posting title pretty much says it all but in case you might want to see the uncolored version go here . . .

Update 7/07: We've also got a new custom spaceknight figure that turned up from Chris yesterday. With the addition of Seeker Chris now has made every final member of the Spaceknight Squadron among other spaceknights and characters from the Rom series. I believe most of those figures have been sold off but you can still view them in his deviant art gallery

  1. I remember this piece! It was pretty spectacular in black and white, but the coloring is phenomenal. The red really pops, and he managed to keep it spaceworthy without overwhelming the backdrop with black. Love it.

  2. This is amazing for sure. The neutralizer looks really really cool like this with the red glowing beam coming out of it.

  3. The B&W was so monotone, and it all ran together- those colors separate; and make it pop! I love it!!! Awesome, AWESOME stuff.

    1. great observation K.o.T. Slemons is an excellent illustrator when it comes to figure composition, scene perspective and the interplay between light and shadows. but yeah the black n' white version of this one just begged for some color to make it pop.
as for Random and Vis., I told ya you'd love this :)

    2. that's the fascinating thing about art how every new pair of eyes gets something different from the exact same piece of art work. I hope to get the input of even more people in the coming days this is really interesting thanks for swinging by Joseph.

    1. "brine-shrimp-lookin'-ass", classic! did you know that Sea -Monkeys come from mixing brine shrimp and human jizz?
by the way speaking of retro 80s stuff i found a copy of Power Lords #1 at a flea market. i wasn't exactly looking for it but it's one of those sort of things i'm happy to buy on the cheap if i come across it. back in the day i had issues 2 and 3 plus this one X-Mass i had gotten 4 of the figures as a random gift. like in the case of Crystar i would say i at least had a passing interest in Power Lords for a while there unlike Sectaurs which never interested me in terms of the toys or comics.

    2. I do what I do when I do what I do...
Yeah, for sure! -Cartman taught us that.
Holy crap! POWER LORDS!!! I have not thought about them in FOREVER. I remember those comic advertisements for the toys back in the day. Never had one though... Did you know Wayne Barlowe designed those? Did not even know they had a comic, apparently it only lasted three issues. Good find!
      Sectaurs are my jam!!!

  6. Has chris done Rainbow ? I must have missed it of so. This Seeker is outstanding as I have come to expect from his customs. His ROM we have is very well loved. All his friends that come over ask about it and never hearing of ROM before he gives them back story and a who he would win in a fight with vs others
