  1. hey Joseph, sorry bro I just meant to remove the deleted comment you had and not the one you intended to leave. I honestly have no %$&%@! idea how blogger removed both of them when clearly I only had one marked for removal really pisses me off.

    1. Its all good. The delete function sucks on blogger for any users. What you delete counts as a reply. Back to the point the revival has begun !! Love his story about pre IDW news. Art looks awesone and not a vs I ever would have thought of. The shot with ROM looking at them ALL is my favorite of the layout pages. All well done. We should see much more by others in the comming months I beleive.

    2. yeah the whole back ground story behind those ROM vs Herculoids pages was cool not to mention the art it's self it just hits out of the park in terms of concept and quality. so much better then the commonly found ROM fan art which usually consists of just him standing around, in an action pose or just a sketch of his head. if you noticed I don't post that sort of stuff any more even if it's done by talented artists I want to see stuff that has some imagination to it. where did you find that link the art style looks like Phillips to me.

  2. Holy cow that's beautiful. Even in the rough sketches. I'm fairly confident that IDW will turn out a good story. They have a good track record on creativity and respect for source material. Proving to me again that the independents are the place to go if you want to do something really great in comics. Not that I don't still love my big 2 superheroes, but I find myself cherry picking the stories that I read from each one.

    1. well in some cases if nothing else it seems like independents are the way to go if you want to cut through a bunch of red tape and get shit done. even back In the 80s I was never very adventurous about independents I never had more then a couple of dozen or so with most of those being spin offs of sci--fi movies like Aliens or The Terminator. but this situation with ROM and IDW is quite unique which I fully embrace at this time largely because marvel has been such a huge disappointment on the matter.

    2. And I'm sure it will continue to be a baffling mystery to all of us why they act the way they do. And they do have to sales to ignore it, mores the pity. But if what you're looking for is a good story, fantasy, Sci-Fi, or just plain weird, the truly creative are in Independent land. It's like what I used to have to do to look for a good book, or a great punk band. You have to search it out.

  3. Great new Rom action! Emphasis on the NEW :) looks promising. I guess you´re buying this comic for real, right?

  4. Yeah, I saw an article about new ROM material from IDW. They reall are on a roll with the amount of popular properites/licenses they've managed to acquire. I hope this does well, as it should, and also thankfully will be a new and welcome source of revenue for Bill Mantlo and his family.

But the Herculoids though? I'm curious why this particular pairing.

    1. Sadly prob not for Bill here as he created everying marvel. This will be ROM all new unless they get permission to use Bills stuff im unsure he will get any revenue ? I wish he was was though and given some credit. He is why we all love ROM

    2. back in the 80s Marvel picked up the rights to publish ROM (from Hasbro) and The Micronauts (from Mego) which in turn Marvel paid Bill Mantlo to write stories for. legally speaking that doesn't oblige Hasbro or IDW to give the Mantlo family a cut of the profits.
so yeah you're right Joseph. but hopefully IDW will at least do the Mantlo family a solid by including a dedication page on the first issues of ROM and The Micronauts which would include information on how people can help Bill with his continuous medical needs.

stay tuned I've got one more cool thing to post here just a bit later today.

  7. Ha! I love how they announced that! And even though I knew what was coming I still got Goosebumps when he said they'd be doing ROM and Micronauts. The hug at the end was beautiful.

  8. Fuck. I always LOVED The Herculoids!
    Hanna-Barbera at its best...
That, Space Ghost, BirdMan, Thundarr... that shit was baby-food to me!

Sorry I can't join in on the conversation- my compy exploded... I'll be back soon.
But I just wanted to say- I'm excited for RErom. I know they can't use ANY Marvel characters... It's a shell of the former ROM. But... well, it's still ROM. With enough passion behind the project- it's a reboot I'm actually interested in!
    Take care, all...
    See ya soon.

    1. ya know, new ROM fan art turns up on an almost weekly basis. but I hardly ever post it here for one simple reason, it almost always sucks. either the skill set of the artist is very amateurish or it's something done by some one who can draw but comes up with something very unoriginal concept wise. but once in a while I find something like this where you have the best of both worlds in which someone with real illustration skills comes up with a great concept. my favorite Hannah Barbara cartoon was Thundar, Jonny Quest and The Herculoids. you said something about your computer exploding? was it terrorists?
