Heart Attack! Rom spaceknight 12 re-covered

This commission fan art piece just recently showed up on the internet today. Nicely done I must say! I like fan art that takes some imagination even if it's just about creating a different way to visualize a scene. There's something a little more to it then just ROM by himself flying in space or on an action pose I'm so burnt out on that shit it's like how many times can you re-invent the wheel? Not to mention that the artist here (Kevin Sharpe) really knows how to draw people this doesn't look amateurish at all. Also awesome is that this is classic ROM not IDW R.I.N.O. Now you might be saying to yourself you'd like to see this in color but I for one like it just fine in black n' white I was never a big fan of the original Jack of Hearts costume.

  2. Artists didn't like Jack of Hearts original costume either. It was way too complicated for folks on a deadline. That's one of the reasons he didn't appear much.

    1. yeah i've heard that to although Bill Mantlo denied that "rumor" was true. was thinking some day of doing a re-panel fan art piece from ROM #12 featuring Jack of Hearts with the updated costume he had before he "died" i always thought it was a vast improvement.

  3. See I'm completely the opposite in opinion to you on Jack of Hearts original outfit. I love it! Fucking love it! I'd beg Hasbro to finally give us a Jack of Hearts Marvel Legends figure 'cause its way past damn time for one.
Love the mock cover though as well. Damn that Kevin Sharpe guy can draw!!!! I too wouldn't mind seeing this in color, but it looks just as sweet in B&W.

    1. Ironically it was a posting on your blog where I first saw the updated version of Jack's armor/costume which I like immensely more then the original.

  4. good old jack. I liked his orginal costume vs his death costume. kick ass art work here.

  5. That is a fantastic piece of artwork there. I have to agree with Shlomo about the duds though. I prefer Jack's "death costume" as Joe so eloquently put it. Still, its cool to see Jack facing the greatest of spaceknights again. I especially like the expression on Jack's mug. A really nice find!

    1. Yes it was, even though it was one of those misunderstanding between heroes kinda fights.

  7. TwoROMmow!

    I mean, twomorrow!!

Except for the guy who only ordered the 3D "Complete" Set...it looks like it's not available tomorrow, just like the Micronauts one was released later than the rest...tsk tsk IDW, and I'd feel sorry for that guy if he hadn't already figured out he didn't want it, anyway.

    1. Well what a funny coincidence - I just read that ROM v2 #1 review you posted (as I am quite curious what the general consensus will be on the series) ... and it turns out that the author of the article is based in my old hometown! Small world :)

Sounded like a fair review - I know the new version of ROM is taking some flack for not being quite as traditional as some are hoping for, but I am looking forward to seeing what they do with it.

    2. I'll have something to say about that review in tomorrow's posting.

  9. Really great piece of fan art! I remember Jack Of Hearts showing up in Iron Man as well. That costume would be hell to draw repeatedly.
