It's time to play guess that Spaceknight!

Left click to enlarge
I was just making some sketches to pass the time tonight and woe and behold a pretty good drawing started to materialize. The two Spaceknights in the foreground are easy to figure out. The 3rd one in the background might be a bit tougher unless your a a nerd of epic proportions and I mean that in the nicest way really. And just so you know this indeed is a Spaceknight with a name that made an appearance in the original ROM series. First correct guess gets a door prize!

  1. He's kinda tiny and it's hard to tell, but is that Gloriole?

  2. I won't deny or confirm that at this time. We'll give it a couple of days to see if anyone else wants to take a stab at it.

  3. Ok, it's time to end the suspense that every one out there no doubt is in. Lee got the answer first but it sounds like if Tony had seen my sketch first he would have nailed it. Siskoid told me on his blog that he took an initial look at the drawing but didn't know (to my surprise).
i just recently learned about the "stats" feature for blogs which let's a person know how many views a particular posting got regardless if someone writes a comment or not. in general this is pretty cool cause now i can see that my blog site isn't quite as unpopular as i had assumed. and more specifically i can see a handful of other folks checked out this posting but declined to venture a guess. maybe it's cause Lee got it right on the first guess? maybe cause they were stumped or thought my little trivia was retarded in the first place who knows?
just trying to keep things interesting here folks and have a little originality.

  4. Nice work - did you also sketch out the title image? That is sweet!

  5. Hi Dan, thanks for leaving a comment. Blogs are so much more enjoyable when people participate by leaving comments. That floating world ROM art gallery blog has so much varied work and hardly anybody of the 48 or so followers had ever left any comments. I found around 8 or so pieces that i liked or at least found interesting enough to leave a comment for the artist.
Anyways, to answer your question the title image done in water colors is mine. So is the charcoal drawing just below it to the right. Both started as a free hand pencil sketch and i just went from there.

  6. My lack of confidence came from the lack of wrist rings on Gloriole. Well, that and trying to make out the drawing on my phone's little screen at the time.

  7. Those wrist rings were the only thing about Gloriole i thought was kinda lame and since the drawing of him was so small i felt i had two good reasons not to include them. but you still guessed right based on looking at my sketch on a phone. as Darth Vader said in ESB, "impressive, most impressive".
